WALT:Write a recount of our recent experiences
On Saturday the 14 of October 2017 me and my cousins had to wake up really early to get ready for a dance off to our own village Manono. I was really shy but at the same time really tired because I woke up at 4:00am and I went to sleep at 3:00am.A lot of people I did not know was dancing like they have never danced before. We had a dance off and raised a lot of money, we raised up to $70,459. We decided to raise money for our village to make a new church because people in Samoan and people in Manono are really poor and they cannot afford anything. After we finished our Hula dance and our two Samoan dances we had a big feast where we could choose anything of our choice. We performed at Otara Fale Samoa. I felt really nervous because on Friday was our last practice and I think I forgot the moves to our dance. A lot of people did their own dances which were my cousins from Samoan Manono and Australia.
Also, when we had finished eating our food we had to perform for my Papa and Nana and I had to wear a big crown that represents my culture which is called an Tuiga and it has different colors on it. The Tuiga has some hair on it because that is how we make it and that is the rule in Samoa If we cut our hair we have to stick it onto our Tuiga. I wore a Samoan ‘Ie Toga (Toga Lavalava) I wore it because I had to dance and be my papa and nana’s dance off winner we had a bowl filled with money and when I was dancing a lot of people came up and danced as well as they tried to make me laugh but Samoan dances we are not allowed to laugh we are just allowed to smile.
Before we went to the Otara Fale Samoa we shot a pig out west and we got permission from the framer but we had to pay him $300 and we also got permission from the police and we paid them $500. My 2 to oldest brother shot the pig and his name is Amataga. I was not allowed to shoot it because the gun was too heavy and when Isaac tried to shot the pig he shot the ground and he shot more than 1 time so the bullets ran out and my Papa and uncle had to go and buy more bullets and pay another $350.
When we killed the pig I was crying because the pig we killed was a baby pig but was really fat and my uncles and my dad helped cook the pig and it was really yummy. I enjoyed eating the pig because of the meat and I smelt it as soon as I saw my uncle and dad cooking. It smelt really delicious. After we ate the Main food we ate cake and Ice-Cream and I also got $50 for dancing and for supporting my family and for getting the most money that our whole village has ever gotten.
When we all had pack up I smelt some joyness out of everyone. My mum loves to dance real funny so she did a funny dance when we all packed up but every time my mum dances in front of a lot of people my sister and brothers say to the person next to them “I don’t know her” and they get really shy. but I just go with the flow. I really enjoyed dancing with a lot of people I did not know because my cousin in Samoa which I have not met her in a long time ever since we were 1 years old we finally meet but she had to go back and help her parents.
I really enjoy having my cousins over from Samoa. I really appreciate what the lord has done for each and everyone of us. We learnt a lot and we also helped most of Samoa villages like Manono, Lefaga, Savii, Apia and Solosolo.
I hope you enjoy reading my Holiday Recount! I also hope you had a lovely Holiday.
